My LinuxMint setup …

As mentioned in my previous post, I am moving to Linux as my primary OS. Today I will summarize my choices in applications to solve a multitude of tasks which I have taken on over the years. Some may fit you too or give you other ideas and options … I chose LinuxMint as my daily driver because:

  • It is a “nicer interface” than pure Ubuntu
  • The progress in upgrading the underlying Ubuntu is slower – for stability
  • A large user and developer community is likely to keep the project running

I am not a “gamer” and not a desktop decorator. IF  nice pictures slide through my background screen it is fine with me – but surely not a requirement or necessity.

Here are the applications I add (kind of in order of priority, as I am writing this while making a new installation):

  1. KeePassXC Password Manager
  2. Veracrypt disk encryption software
  3. vv
